Journal of Community Development and Innovation (JCDI) is a peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scholarly articles derived from community engagement, community empowerment, and innovation-driven community service activities. The journal emphasises evidence-based practices, applied innovation, digital transformation, participatory approaches, and sustainable societal development.

JCDI serves as an interdisciplinary academic platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and community development actors to disseminate practical solutions, implementation experiences, and transformative initiatives addressing real-world societal challenges. The journal particularly prioritises manuscripts that demonstrate measurable impact, sustainability, scalability, and replicability of community empowerment programs.

JCDI distinguishes itself by focusing on innovation-oriented and impact-driven community development initiatives integrating science, technology, education, engineering, and social empowerment to support sustainable community transformation aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Community Development and Innovation (JCDI) undergo an initial editorial screening followed by a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.

The review process assesses:

  • originality and innovation,
  • relevance to community development and empowerment,
  • methodological rigour,
  • practical contribution and applicability,
  • measurable societal impact,
  • sustainability and replicability of the program,
  • clarity and quality of presentation.

The editorial board maintains strict confidentiality throughout the review process and ensures that editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, scholarly contribution, and ethical publication standards.

Open Access Policy

JCDI provides immediate open access to all published content based on the principle that freely accessible knowledge supports the global exchange of ideas and enhances the dissemination of community empowerment practices, innovation, and sustainable societal development.

Publication Ethics

JCDI is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal adheres to ethical publishing principles to prevent plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, citation manipulation, and unethical authorship practices.

Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to uphold ethical scholarly conduct throughout the submission, review, and publication process.

Authors should disclose the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, if any, in the manuscript preparation process.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors who publish with JCDI retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right of first publication.

Published articles may be used, shared, and distributed for academic and non-commercial purposes, provided that proper attribution is given to the original authors and source.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts do not infringe upon any copyright, ethical, or intellectual property rights.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to JCDI are screened using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality and academic integrity. Manuscripts with indications of plagiarism or unethical publication practices will be rejected.

Archiving Policy

JCDI supports long-term digital preservation of published articles through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform and institutional repository systems. Additional archiving systems, such as LOCKSS or CLOCKSS, may be implemented in the future to ensure permanent accessibility and preservation of journal content.
