Author Guidelines

Journal of Community Development and Innovation (JCDI) is a peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality manuscripts derived from community engagement, community empowerment, and innovation-driven community service activities. The journal emphasises evidence-based practices, applied innovation, digital transformation, sustainable development, and measurable societal impact.

JCDI provides an interdisciplinary scholarly platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and community development actors to disseminate practical solutions and transformative initiatives addressing real-world societal challenges.

The journal particularly prioritises manuscripts that demonstrate:

  • innovation and practical contribution,
  • measurable community impact,
  • sustainability and scalability of programs,
  • evidence-based implementation approaches,
  • interdisciplinary collaboration,
  • replicable community empowerment models.

JCDI welcomes contributions addressing both local and global community development challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to:

  • Community empowerment and participatory development
  • Innovation and applied technology for society
  • Digital transformation and digital literacy
  • Smart village and smart community initiatives
  • Appropriate technology implementation
  • Education and community capacity building
  • Technology-based solutions for SMEs and local economies
  • Sustainable development and environmental empowerment
  • Social innovation and public engagement
  • Engineering and infrastructure solutions for communities
  • Creative communication media for public education

Manuscripts should be prepared in clear academic English using the journal template and generally include:

  • Title
  • Abstract and Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Methods / Program Implementation
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgements (optional)
  • References

The manuscript must present original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere.

Authors are encouraged to demonstrate methodological clarity, innovation value, measurable outcomes, and broader applicability of the community empowerment program.

References should follow APA 7th Edition citation style. Authors are strongly encouraged to cite recent and relevant scholarly publications.

JCDI adheres to ethical publishing standards and is committed to preventing plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, and unethical authorship practices.

Authors should disclose the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, if any, in the manuscript preparation process.

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process conducted by qualified reviewers in relevant fields of expertise.

Authors must confirm that:

  • The submission represents original work and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
  • The manuscript aligns with the focus and scope of JCDI.
  • The manuscript demonstrates practical contribution and measurable community impact.
  • The manuscript presents evidence-based community empowerment or innovation practices.
  • The manuscript has been prepared using the journal template.
  • The manuscript is written in clear academic English.
  • References and citations follow APA 7th Edition style.
  • All references cited in the text are included in the reference list.
  • The manuscript file is provided in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format.
  • Author identities have been removed from the manuscript for double-blind review purposes.
  • Figures, tables, and illustrations are properly embedded within the manuscript.
  • The manuscript complies with ethical publication standards and is free from plagiarism.
  • All authors have approved the submission and publication process.
  • The use of generative AI tools, if any, has been properly disclosed.
